PLN is based on the Internet and uses advanced transmission technology to disseminate information three-dimensionally.  The two-way interaction of information dissemination is the concentration of the essential characteristics and social significance of PLN dissemination of information.  PLN serves as an important channel for information exchange and dissemination, enabling information to be widely disseminated, absorbed and utilized.  Just like this week’s interview between Jesse and Brad, Brad mentioned that he used his PLN to communicate and introduce the knowledge of the Indigenous to people of all ages.(4:56)The emergence of PLN has greatly changed the way of information dissemination, affecting the organization, transmission and acquisition of human knowledge.

Human education and the development of science and technology complement each other. Every leap in educational means is inseparable from the progress of science and technology. Education also indirectly promotes the progress and leaps of science and technology.  PLN technology creates new places for learning anytime and anywhere, and improves the connection between learners, including the connection between management, parents and students, and future generations. In addition, teaching impact pedagogy and educational processes are also affected by emerging technologies.(Veletsianos, 2010)In earlier years, mankind has entered the stage represented by analog electronic communication, and the development of immature electronic products has become a booster for the development of education at that time.  During that period, the communication of sound and images was the main body to influence the reform of education and expand the extension of education.  Breaking the traditional concept that education can only be carried out on campus, the object of education is broader. Now that we have entered the era of digital and networked communication, the boundaries of space and time have been completely broken, and there have been a large number of remote teaching methods, and the impact of the Internet on education is unprecedented.Emerging technologies have irreversibly  changed the balance from teacher-centered to learner-centered.( Veletsianos, 2010)

The use of PLN is conducive to low-cost expansion of the scale of education, and the development of modern distance education can realize the popularization of higher education.  At the same time, it is conducive to the sharing of high-quality educational resources, and it can be used as an information resource infinitely on the Internet.  Just like during the epidemic, many professors will post their own teaching videos on the website, which helps students to watch repeatedly to fully digest the knowledge.  In addition, PLN also largely solves the unevenness of educational resources in various regions and narrows the gap in education levels.

Social media is only a learning tool. It allows sharing information and ideas with other individuals. Although the Internet can increase students’ access to educational resources and information, it is indispensable for teachers’ guidance and screening of information. Due to the uneven quality of online information, PLN’s  Improper use may seriously interfere with the school’s teaching order and alienate students’ interpersonal relationships.  In the educational environment, the communication of social media may also have the problem of lack of individualization.  In the case of online teaching, professors try their best to transfer knowledge to students, but this is usually systematic.  Students cannot make good use of the online Office hour, and professors cannot teach in accordance with their aptitude and treat them individually, which results in students not being able to develop their personal potential and advantages.  The significance of PLN to teaching is to promote teachers and students to improve the quality of teaching and learning, and will never replace offline teaching.
